Men In Speedos play live at album launch
Saturday 17th November was the officil launch of the new album by Men In Speedos 'At A Kalamazoo Near You'. We took over the top 3 floors of Vicos, in Belfast, and used the 1st & 2nd floors for art installations [to see photos click here]. The top floor was where all the action took place, with a live set by the Men In Speedos and DJ sets by Gavin Wilson & The Henry Brothers. A top evening had by all & thanks to everyone for coming to share it with us.

Men In Speedos Live Set Played On Samurai FM
After receiving a copy of the new Men In Speedos album Samurai FM, one of the web's finest electronic music radio stations invited MIS to submit something for their station. MIS decided to record a live set using a mixture of MIS tunes & ENTK tunes all interspersed with a range of samples from films. 'It was really great fun and a privalege to be asked', the speedomen told us. You can check out at www.samurai.fm and we will be posting it on our site soon.

Music videos screened at Belfast's QFT
Our sister company Seamless Productions was having an end of year screening at Belfast's Queens Film Theatre to showcase the short films & music promos produced in 2007. 3 of the 5 productions screened were music vidoes for both artists on Red Label Records. It was smashing to see them up on the silver screen.
Music videos submitted to Belfast Film Festival
Having had the chance to see the music videos on the big screen for the Seamless Productions event in November, we were invited to submit the videos to Belfast Film Festival. They don't have a section for music videos but they will see whether any of them are suitable for submission as short films ... we'll watch this space, but even if they don't get selected it was very nice to be asked.

Kalamazoo Has Arrived
It has finally arrived! Four years in the preparing, 18 months in the design and manufacture and finally it has all arrived ... the limited edition version of Men In Speedos album 'At A Kalamazoo Near You'. You can be among the first to get your hands on this beautiful CD and casing by going to our shop section. It won't be officially released for a couple of months yet, so get ahead of the game through our site.
Remixing Red Label Tunes
Unfortunately since we've had to focus on our sister company Seamless Productions and the various projects that we have going on with it things have slacked off with Red Label of late ... but now we're back, and we've a few new parts to the site coming up over the next couple of months. We'll be getting the long awaited remix section sorted, so that some of the 'Men In Speedos' & 'Eric Needs To Know' tracks, samples & midi patterns can be throw out there for you to do with as you wish. Please post them back here in the remix section so that the rest of the world can get to hear them.
Jukeboxes To Screen in Belfast
Jukeboxes & Triggers videos & films have been completed, soon to be seen on a screen near you. We'll be having a premiere in the Queens Film Theatre on Sat 17th November and a wee after-bash to have a right good knees up to celebrate 2 years of work. You can snatch a preview of low res versions of the films/music videos in our videos section.

Speedos in Laverys, Belfast
How many years has Lavery's been running? And how man great bands & DJs have passed it's doors? And now it was the turn of Men In Speedos ... twice in one month! It was great to play at Lavery's and it was probably our best set yet, since it was a mish-mash of Men In Speedos stuff & Eric Needs To Know tunes. Cheers Greg.

We're Evolving
What a belting night and thank you to all the old & new faces who turned up for both the party & our set. We'll definitely be doing more of those. Check out the photos from the night at the Evolution website.

Old-skool Annie Mac
in 1999 we went on a trip to Cannes to attend the Midem conference. We were in our infant stages of a label, and to be honest were a bit out of our depth, but we learnt loads. The N.Ireland Music Industry Commission [NIMIC] made a compilation CD, and we got 2 tracks onto it, one of which was an absolutely flatout techno track ... obviously could done with a bit of mastering, but then we didn't know any better back then. And who was one of the two people who made this? Yes it was indeed the lovely Annie Mac. We have happened upon it, 8 years later, and feel it's only right to post it in our downloads section to have a wee listen to. Good effort lady! www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/anniemac/

Triggering The Jukeboxes
The project Jukeboxes & Triggers is into it's second phase at the moment, with one video almost complete. it looks awesome, and we'll not know whether we're ging to go with a vocal for the finished video, or whether to leave it as an instrunmental until we've got both vrsions to play with. The animations are all looking really well, and obviously moving slower than the one that was shot before Christmas. It's looking likely that they'll be finished by the middle of March. You can check out the progress at Seamless Productions.
Evolving Some More
The next MIS gig is possibly on the horizon, with an old school re-union being planned for all of the DJs who used to play at our night 'Evolution'. Date & location TBC. But when it happens the Men In Speedos will be there. Check out past photos from the club night at www.evolution.org.uk.
Jukeboxes & Triggers 1st Part Shot
As part of the Jukeboxes & Triggers project that Red Label artists are working on with Seamless Productions, an outline of a tune was composed by Men In Speedos, called 'Gr8 Orbit', and local director Brian Philip Davis has been working with them on realising the end audio visual piece. On Saturday 25th November, using the Panavision studios in Belfast, the piece was shot, and is now in the rough cut edit process. You can check the Seamless Productions website to keep up to date on the details of it.
Belfest 06
It was great fun .. even though we had a hard drive failure this year, and lost most of the parts to our tunes, we were still able to break up most of our tunes into Ableton to play live. Chooch was on Reaktor creating new live loops, whilst Twinkle played with Ableton, and Uber was on the CD decks, mixing Chooch & Twinkle in and out of each other, and messing with sounds & vocals samples. You can check out the videos section of this site to see the mobile phone footage of some of the random noise being generated.
Belfest 06
Men In Speedos will be playing out live as part of the Digital Belfest festival in Katy Dalys .... and we've had a hard drive failure!

Shop Section
We have managed to unravel the mysteries of the tinternet age and came up with a new concept called an 'online shop'. Some people have said that it has been done before and keep telling us to have a look at amazon.com, but they are the devils spawn and will succumb to the red weed!!!
Remixers section
Red label records is giving you lucky buggers a chance to remix some of the new tunage from the resident artists. Be sure to check out the new section when it is ready in a few weeks. We hope to extend this section to include competitions, the winners of which will be included in a limited edition remix cd.
Sonar 2006 update
Well after a serious session and a half we can successfully say that we definetly enjoyed the Sonar Festival 2006. Check out the photos in the images section. It has to be officially the epicenter of strangeness for the entire earth for just a few days when it happens to coincide with the sonar festival.

Red Label go to Sonar for launch of Men In Speedos album
Sonar 2006 married with World Cup madness and all in Barcelona … what a time & place to launch the new album by Red Label artists ‘Men In Speedos’. We’ve been building up to this launch for nearly 18 months, and now it’s hear we’re really exicited. The CDs are actually being manufactured as we speak, and we’re launching our promo copies at Sonar, with the official launch in September 2006. Hope to see you partying with the rest of us!

New album by Men In Speedos

They’re excited, we’re excited, godamnit the whole world is excited … look out for a Kalamazoo coming to a shop near you soon.

Audio Visual collaboration between Red Label artists & Belfast Animators & Directors
During 2005 Seamless Productions approached us at Red Label records, to see if we’d be interested in an audio visual collaboration. As a result of our past meanderings into sonic art, visual pieces, and events, we were asked to be part of a new project they were putting together.
Four Belfast-based animators & directors are going to take 4 pieces of music from Red Label artists, and use them to inspire visual imagery. The project is called ‘Jukeboxes & Triggers’ and will hopefully be going into production before the end of the year.

Music video created by Anna Fitzsimmons of Chewie Films
A while back Eric Needs To Know had handed out some of his latest tunes to some friends to have a listen to, and local animator/director Anna Fitzsimmons, who co-owns production company Chewie Films asked could she use it to accompany a super 8 film that she had made. Needless to say all of us were up for it, and now we have a lovely music video for the track ‘The Pre Dunk Jam’. This track was collaboration between Belfast guitarist ‘Pre-Dunk’ and he jammed whilst ‘Eric Needs To Know’ worked the effects. A nice drifty track for all those drifters out there … and my god it works well with Anna’s film. Cheers Anna.
Eric Needs To Know is almost finished debut album
Eric Needs To Know has been working away on his debut album for nearly two years, and he’s coming to the end of that sequencing period, where mastering is about to begin. There are a couple of tracks where he’s hoping to get some vocals over, and then that’s it, ready to rock. We’re hoping to be able to release it early 2007.

Watch this space for dates of the next MIS & ENTK gigs
Both Men In Speedos & Eric Needs To Know are working on live sets at present, having spent so much time in the studio and other projects. Both sets of folks though it was about time to get out and shake some ass over the next few months, so keep an eye out for news on that...
