aka Moody B, who recently moved to Ireland, has been involved in Music since he can remember. He says he grew up listening to a wide variety of music – from Michael Jackson to punk bands like the Vibrators.  He did not usually go by the rules – listening to what he liked whether it was cool or not he says.

At the age of 8 he started playing drums and continued playing drums for eleven years. He played in a punk band the Gas House Gorillas who played with bands like Murphy’s Law, Henry Rollins, DRI, Napalm Death and Bouncing Soles to name but a few. But playing in a punk band did not keep him from exploring other realms of music.

In the early Nineties he started listening to Industrial and Electronic Music as well as Techno but only when he was exposed to the House music did he saw a whole new way of making it. The breaking point – he claims – was when he heard a track by Roy Davis Junior with disco cutups and totally identified with it. It opened a whole new realm for him. Soon enough he bought turntables, sampler, drum machine. He is a self made musician – learned everything himself  - from powering up the sampler to programming the whole track - and after three years he had what he calls a ”decent set up“.

In 1997 he started recording his own tracks and by 1998 he started his own label Church Street Recordings with its first release in 1999. Since then his career rocketed. He recorded with DJ Spun (San Francisco), DJ Buck (Siesta, Leaf), Jerome O. (Farris Wheel) and  KAlexi (Transmat).  As the label got established he started playing out more securing a residency at Club Odyssey in New York, playing venues on West Coast (Velvet Shop – San Jose). More recently he collaborated with Deep Freeze Recordings in Scotland remixing their 2nd release and playing Deep Freeze nights in Glasgow and Dundee. Still upcoming collaborations with DJ Buck, tracks for Traffic and Leaf. and playing Poland’s trendiest clubs in July as part of Northern House Fort Knox Production event in Warsaw and Sopot in July. He launched a new label in 2003 called Avenida Recordings, based in Belfast, now that he is married and lives here.  This is alongside continuing releases on many other labels, and licensing tracks to compilation CDs.
