Spree are a five piece drum'n'bass band formed from the ashes of Solarise, who as a prolific live act played as far afield as the first ever Drum and Bass festival, France. The three came together purely by chance a meeting of like minded souls on a musical journey merging the open endedness and beauty of Jazz with the new beat patterns of drum and bass to create their own unique laid back yet powerful energising sound.
Formed in April 2001, spree have in a short amount of time established themselves as rising players within the local club and music scene. Local legend Terri hooley has said they are the most exciting thing he has seen since the Undertones.
In the later part of 2001 spree partly composed the music for " Out of their heads" a stage play by Marcus Romer. March 2002 saw spree make their first visit stateside performing at the prestigious SXSW festival Austin, Texas.
As a side project Simon joined forces with Paul Brown (Bedlam) and Robin (Touched and Crazy) to produce dub reggae and also performed a live set supporting the Legendary Lee "Scratch " Perry. Simon has also worked with Belcrash and release on Hertz Recordings.
Antoine has been performing for the past six years in some shape or form, including New world, Cuban, and Spanish Traditional and has also worked as a conductor for a large jazz ensemble. Antoine studied music production @ Queens University, Belfast, and is now the head engineer at a new studio complex in Antrim.
Spree have released on the Stella Aspect Records and Direct recordings & Eight Ball Records. They have played many live dates across Ireland & Scotland, as well as being invited to events across Europe.
